The ceremonial keel laying for Celebrity Cruises’ upcoming cruise ship Celebrity Flora took place on Friday, December 15, at De Hoop Shipyard (Tolkamer-Lobith, Netherlands) and set the foundation for the innovative structure of the vessel.
A 49-ton block was lifted and a traditional lucky coin was placed in the dock before it was lowered into position. With Flora’s foundation in place, the building blocks can now be joined together to create the newest upcoming vessel of Celebrity Cruises.
Leaders from BG Studios, DeHoop and Celebrity, were at the event and celebrated the next stage of the evolution of the ship.
Celebrity Flora will sail year-round cruises out of Baltra Island to the Galapagos Islands. The inaugural cruise is scheduled for May 26, 2019. The ship will operate alternating 7-night Galapagos inner-outer loop itineraries.
