The Royal Caribbean cruise ship Independence of the Seas returned to Florida yesterday, December 16, after hundreds of travelers contracted gastrointestinal illness.
During the 5-night cruise, a total of 332 cases of the illness (5.99% of the more than 5,000 passengers and crew) have been reported, according to a statement by Royal Caribbean.
It is not known what caused the illness, but according to WPLG some passengers disembarking on Saturday in Port Everglades FL believed the number of sick passengers was higher than what the company said.
