Cruise Ship Arrivals Double in El Salvador

El Salvador Tourism reported a 100% increase in the number of cruise ship arrivals over last year.

El Salvador has 2 main ports - Acajutla, situated on the Pacific coast, La Union, situated on the eastern coast in Gulf of Fonseca, an undiscovered area of Central America. These ports welcomed cruisers from all over the world including Europe, Asia, North America and South America.

In 2017, 33% of the international cruise arrivals in El Salvador came from North America, the 2nd-largest number of visitors behind Asia at 38%.

According to El Salvador Tourism, Acajutla is among the most modern cruise ports in Central America. It has 3 wharves with 8 berths featuring capacity to accommodate ships up to 885 ft in length. La Union lies at the foot of volcano Conchagua. Silversea, Azamara, Princess Cruises and Saga UK all stop at both La Union and Acajutla on their trips.

Recently, Silversea announced its 2018 Americas itineraries, including the Pacific coast for the first time in history.
