NYPD Rescues Passenger From Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

The NYPD Aviation Unit have come to the rescue of a cruise passenger onboard Anthem of the Seas Friday afternoon, January 19.

The unit has been alerted to an 80-year-old man. The passenger suffered a cardiac episode onboard the ship in Ambrose Channel.

Anthem of the Seas had to change its course and headed to Coney Island area.

The Quick Reaction Force (QRF) aircraft of the unit, with four team members aboard, responded to the area where they lowered their Emergency Services Unit Tactical Medic on the cruise vessel.

They secured the passenger and hoisted him into the aircraft. The man was then removed to Staten Island Medical Center where he is reportedly in serious condition.

The Anthem of the Seas cruiser resumed its planned course.
