With the launch of its river cruise brochure for 2019, Avalon Waterways adds 6 new options, including the first sailing along India’s Ganges river.

The new river cruise itineraries open up new parts of Asia and Europe for Avalon passengers, while also introducing brand new, all-suite vessels that include open-air, floor-to-ceiling balconies. With the new river ships, also comes the expansion of Avalon Choice service and now guests can select from many shore excursions and onboard activities which best suit their own travel style.

Avalon Waterways itinerary options are categorized into 3 classifications: Active, Classic and Discovery, allowing guests to tailor the cruise to their interests and activity level. The discovery programs speak to specific, niche interests like painting workshops and cooking classes that will provide deep-dive into local culture. Active elements appeal to the most energetic guests and include options like guided jogging tours, cycling, hiking and paddling through scenic locales. Through the classic elements, local experts continue to share knowledge during guided explorations of the history of Avalon destinations.

Sailing from Rhone delta, Southern France to Lyon, passengers will enjoy a wine-tasting experience in the company of a local cave specialist and wine-making expert. A cycling journey around Camargue Regional National Park along with canoeing through the canyons of Gorges de l’Ardeche are also included.

Other new itineraries include 9-day Reflections on Seine River (round-trip from Paris), 11-day German Grandeur (from Basel to Munich and Munich to Basel), 18-/16-day Enchanted Europe (from Budapest to Basel and Basel to Budapest), and 11-day Burmese Days (round-trip from Yangon.)
