The original cast of "The Love Boat" and Princess Cruises were presented a Hollywood Walk of Fame honorary star plaque in recognition of their contributions to the history of television and support for preservation of the Walk of Fame.

Jill Whelan (Vicki), Gavin MacLeod (Captain Stubing), Ted Lange (Isaac), Lauren Tewes (Julie), Fred Grandy (Gopher) and Bernie Kopell (Doc), were joined by the CEO of Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Leron Gubler, the co-chair of Hollywood Historic Trust, Donelle Dadigan, and the President of Princess Cruises, Jan Swartz. The honorary star plaque is located in front of the main entrance to Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.

"The Love Boat" premiered in May 1977, set aboard a cruise ship, and featured stories of romance and adventure on the high seas which involved characters portrayed by the biggest stars of Hollywood of the day.

Following the pilot show, "The Love Boat" went on to enjoy great success, continuing for ten seasons until 1987. Princess Cruises became a household name as the co-star and primary setting of the popular series, and continues to be popular as the "Love Boat" cruise line. Island Princess and Pacific Princess were the two original cruisers but as the show grew in popularity it was filmed aboard many Princess cruise ships at exotic destinations around the world.

Princess Cruises becomes only the 3rd brand to be recognized as Friend of the Walk of Fame, following L'Oreal PARIS and ABSOLUT Vodka.
