AIDA Cruises to Add New Ship in 2019

AIDA Cruises is adding a new ship to its fleet next year. AIDAmira (former Costa neoRiviera), as the vessel will be named, will sail for the Selection program of the cruise line.

Due to its design and size, AIDAmira is a good addition to the current 3 Selection ships. Since 2017, AIDAcara, AIDAvita and AIDAaura have been sailing unusual routes and delighted more than 157,000 passengers. AIDA Selection explorer program is best for cosmopolitan adventurers wishing to experience countries and cultures in a unique way.

Prior to going into service, the vessel will be refurbished and remodeled. There will be 2 large pools and 2 whirlpools on its spacious sun deck. From a total of 624 staterooms, 96 are suites (80 of which with balconies). Passengers can enjoy a variety in 6 restaurants and 6 bars. AIDAmira departs oh her maiden voyage on December 4, 2019 from Palma de Mallorca.

The route of AIDAmira is totally new for AIDA program: In December 2019, passengers will have a first-time chance to experience the natural wonders of southern Africa. Departure and destination port on the 2-week route “South Africa and Namibia” is Cape Town. Further ports of call include Durban, East London, Luderitz on the edge of Namib desert.

While AIDAmira will expand the fleet of AIDA from December 2019 onwards, newbuild AIDAnova will embark on her first cruises in November 2018. A couple of sister ships of AIDAnova are due to follow in 2021 and 2023 spring when the AIDA fleet will include 16 ships.
