Genting Cruise Lines Organizes First Ever Safe Piloting and Techniques Seminar

Genting Cruise Lines (GCL) organized the first Safe Piloting and Techniques Seminar in Shenzhen along with Hong Kong Pilots Association (HKPA), China Maritime Pilots’ Association (CMPA), and Shenzhen Pilots (SZP).

Taking place May 24-25, 2018, the event gathered the international maritime community in exchange of ideas centered on Safe Piloting and Techniques for Cruise Ships.

More than 100 guests participated, including captains and professionals from major cruise companies, pilot agencies from Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Malaysia and Philippines, local governments, guests from Ministry of Transport of P.R.C, industry organizations, consulting research institutes and cruise port operators.

The discussions held during the seminar covered a wide range of topics, such as simulation studies, the pilots' responsibilities, comparisons between new cruise liners equipped with Azipods and conventional cruisers using propellers, and the setup of bridge team for navigation of vessels.
