Princess Cruises Ship to Serve as Hotel for Tokyo Olympics

A luxury cruise ship is due to serve as a hotel at Port Yokohama to ease shortage of rooms during 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Millions of visitors are expected in the capital and surrounding areas.

During the Games, Princess Cruises' ship Sun Princess will be docked at Yamashita Pier. Reporters were invited to see the cruise ship's interior with similar facilities since Sun Princess is currently under renovation.

The ship is about 260 metres long and has more than 1,000 staterooms, 3 pools and other amenities.

A night onboard costs between 300-3,500 dollars per person. Travel agency JTB expects 36,000 guests to stay on the ship over 19 days.
