VIDEO: IMO to Improve Ferry Safety in Asia-Pacific

   July 8, 2018 ,   Accidents

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) produced a new video to help improve safety of crew and passengers aboard domestic ferries in Asia-Pacific region.

The video was commissioned after a series of discussion forums highlighted overcrowding and overloading as the most common (as well as potentially fatal) issues for ferries operating domestic and inter-island passenger services in Asia-Pacific.

The animated video is provided free-of-charge to region's national maritime authorities and will be shown on both national TV channels and in ferry terminals. It features 3 key messages: listen to crew, follow instructions, overcrowding is dangerous.
