Just a few days after Hurricane Danny prompted three lines to reroute their ships in Eastern Caribbean, at least one was forced by tropical storm Erika.
Carnival adjusted its itinerary for Carnival Conquest, which departed from Fort Lauderdale on August 23. The 8-night sailing was originally scheduled to call at Saint Maarten, Saint Kitts, San Juan, Grand Turk.
With the storm moving quickly to the west toward Leeward Islands, the line had to cancel its Saint Maarten and Saint Kitts calls. The cruise ship will spend a couple of days in San Juan before heading to Grand Turk. Nassau has also been added to the list.
Erika, which is swirling off Antigua's coast with max sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, has already prompted storm watches for Antigua, Saint Kitts, Saint Maarten, Saint Martin, Saint Barts, Guadeloupe, Anguilla and more.
Both Royal Caribbean and Carnival have vessels scheduled to visit these cruise ports throughout the week.
