Greek Island Port Due to Top 95,000 Cruise Passenger Visits

Port Chania in Crete, Greece is expecting the number of cruise ship passengers to top 95,000 for the first 8 months of 2018.

The data, reported by Athens-Macedonian News Agency, say that cruise passengers arriving via Port Souda will be boosted by about 1,900 people disembarking from Marella Discovery 2 ship - due to dock in the end of the month. 6 more cruise arrivals are scheduled for Souda until the end of August 2018.

Greece is expecting bumper year for tourism, with arrivals by air already up and millions of travellers expected to holiday here.

It's estimated that over 3 million more passengers arrived in Greece from abroad through July in comparison with previous years.

The data lead to projections that Ministry of Tourism target of 32 million arrivals this year will be exceeded, and the total number of arrivals will be more than 33 million, as arrivals by sea and land also show an upward trend, resulting in high revenues.
