Québec's Saguenay has landed a call by Cunard's Queen Mary 2 in 2016. The QM2 is expected to dock in the Canadian port at 7.a.m. on October 6.

Saguenay Mayor Jean Tremblay commented that this announcement was the result of ten years of hard work by Promotion Saguenay team through continued regional development of the international cruise market. Tremblay added that the arrival of Cunard’s liner in Saguenay was “the ultimate affirmation for the destination, a vote of confidence and a phenomenal recognition”.

Cunard’s senior executive visited Saguenay last summer in collaboration with “Cruise the Saint Lawrence” association and inspected the reception, the wharf facilities and services, Saguenay Fjord and the attractions, 'La Fabuleuse' production and downtown area.

The mayor promised huge celebration with residents of Saguenay and the entire region invited to participate and to have the privilege to welcome the magnificent ship.

Saguenay is the third-largest call port on the St. Lawrence River. It is visited by most of the major cruise lines and was crowned Best Port Welcome for 2010, 2012 and 2013 owing to its legendary hospitality.
