Blue Port, 7 cruise ships, amazing land program and a spectacular parade marked the highlights of 2015 Hamburg Cruise Days, which closed yesterday, September 13. Organizers said they had expected around 570,000 visitors over the weekend.

On Friday, September 11, Costa neoRomantica and the new “dream ship” from the German TV series, Amadea, both visited port of Hamburg. On Saturday, September 12, AIDAbella, Europa and Mein Schiff 4 docked in the port.

The highlight was on Saturday night, with spectators gathered on the banks of Elbe River for the vessel parade. Escorted by sailing vessels, barges and passenger ships, AIDAbella, Europa and Mein Schiff 4 made their way down the Elbe, against the backdrop of the port, bathed in blue light. Each cruise vessel was welcomed with fireworks display and waved off on her journey with a laser message.

Thorsten Kausch, managing director of Hamburg Convention Bureau, issuing the licence for Hamburg Cruise Days, said that the spectacular evening had shown once again why Hamburg sat at the very top of shipping companies’ ranking of destinations in Europe. He added that the people of Hamburg had an unrivalled passion for cruises, and the city would once again be "broadcasting amazing images from the event all over the world”.

Yesterday, September 13, two iconic ships were the stars in the port: MSC Splendida and Queen Mary 2. Both liners left Hamburg together in the evening.
