Silver Cloud joins Silversea expedition fleet

In November 2017, the first ship in the fleet of Silversea Cruises, Silver Cloud, will be adapted to cruise the polar regions. This way, the Cloud will become Silversea's 4th luxury expedition ship.

During her refit, scheduled to start in August 2017, the 296-guest ship will be refurbed for 260 passengers and transformed into an ice-class vessel. On her Antarctic and Arctic itineraries, Silver Cloud will accommodate only 200 travelers allowing to land at a wider range of ports. On non-polar cruises, the ship will sail at full capacity.

Dining options remain the same: Main Dining Room, Relais & Chateaux restaurant, The Grill, La Terrazza and ensuite dining, so Silver Cloud will be the only luxury ice-class expedition ship to offer five dining options.

The ship will also feature the highest space and staff-to-guest ratios among luxury ice-class expedition vessels, according to the cruise line. There will be also one member of the expedition team to guide no more than twelve passengers. Silver Cloud will be augmented by 18 Zodiac crafts for explorations.

Other Silversea hallmarks, such as complimentary beverages (including spirits and wine), stocked ensuite bar, complimentary Wi-Fi and butler service, are included on expedition cruises.

Silver Cloud will join Silver Discoverer, Silver Galapagos and Silver Explorer in the fleet of expedition ships of the line, offering more unusual itineraries. All Silversea expedition sailings provide destination lectures, complimentary excursions and photo presentations.
