First alcohol drink package on Pacific Pearl

P&O Cruises Australia is testing its 1st alcoholic beverage package onboard Pacific Pearl. The new offering will probably be rolled out across the 5-ship Australian fleet.

Launched on cruise P535 to the Loyalty Islands from Sydney this week, the “Premium Beverage” package is valued at AU$69 per day (per adult) during the trial period. It includes beer, wine and spirits up to the price of AU$12, plus soft drinks, coffee, tea and bottled water.

Expected to be available on sailings of 7 nights or longer, the new package is non-transferable. Only one drink is allowed to order at a time.

A spokesperson for the line said the introduction of the beverage package was similar to the packages offered by other lines and in line with the growing sophistication of cruise products. The spokesperson added that P&O Cruises had taken care in developing the alcoholic beverage package as a convenient option for passengers and was confident that the trial would be successful, with fine-tuning to be made if necessary.

However, the line stressed it would be following strictly the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Australian guidelines with its “zero tolerance of excessive behaviour” policy firmly in place.

In July P&O launched a soft drink package priced at AU$7 per day. Sister brand Princess Cruises presented alcoholic drinks package, that was also introduced on line's Australia-based ships.
