The US Coast Guard (USCG) medevaced a 57-year-old woman from Grand Princess on Sunday night (October 18) after the passenger sustained a heart attack.

At the time of the medical evacuation, the Princess Cruises' ship was nearly 52 nautical miles (80 miles) southwest of Monterey, California.

The Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended that the passenger be medically evacuated to a hospital for emergency care. A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from San Francisco flew to the ship and hoisted the woman aboard and flew her to California.
