Phoenix Reisen has arranged a 5-year charter of the famous 1998-built ms Deutschland, starting next year.

The ship is currently operating for Semester at Sea, and before that was sailing under the umbrella of Peter Deilmann.

“We are delighted we can bring the Deutschland back to the German market,” said in a statement Benjamin Krumpen, CEO of the line.

The ship fits nicely into the Phoenix Reisen fleet, consisting of Albatros, Amadea and Artania. Deutschland boasts a loyal passenger base in Germany.

The ship will go into dry dock in spring 2016 for various upgrades. Deutschland will be painted in the colors of Phoenix Reisen, French balconies will be added on Decks 7 and 8.

MS Deutschland will operate in Northern Europe, with her first voyage to the Norwegian fjords, followed by a cruise to North Cape and Spitsbergen, and a 23-day sailing to Greenland.
