Anthem of the Seas arrived in Martinique’s Pointe Simon on November 16, and while it was meant to be a time where the cruise passengers are happy, it had a slight somber mood, as the area of Fort-de-France was silent for one minute as mark of respect.

However, the Anthem of the Seas Captain had already held a small silent memorial the previous night to remember the people that died in those horrible attacks in Paris, France.

According to the Captain of Anthem of the Seas, “We cannot change what has happened, but we are here to bring joy and happiness as best we can.” The ship also respected the minute silence on the ship, as well as its passengers in port.

France is America’s oldest allies, and so it was obvious that Royal Caribbean would do something like this out of a mark of respect. Having said that, there has been a solidarity throughout Europe, with several sporting events holding a minutes silence as well in the UK.
