In a statement yesterday (March 11), Carnival Cruise Lines announced that a missing 21-year-old male passenger was believed to have fallen overboard during a voyage in the Bahamas.
The traveler was reported missing on board Carnival Glory on Sunday morning (March 8) and a review of the security cameras confirmed a man overboard.
Carnival said US Coast Guard had been notified and started search and rescue operations.
The name of the missing passenger has not been released yet but media reports said he was a student at Virginia Tech University.
Carnival statement said they extended their heartfelt sympathy and concern for the family and loved ones of their missing guest.
Carnival Glory returned to the accident’s location and participated in the search for a period of time. On Monday, a second cruise ship, Carnival Ecstasy, was also diverted by the line to help in the search.
