AIDAprima is the first of the newest AIDA Cruises ship. She is also the first of AIDA vessels built in Japan. The completion of AIDAprima at Mitsubishi Heavy Industries was delayed and instead of entering service on October 1, 2015 the ship will begin cruising in April 2016 from Hamburg. The cruise ship differs from the other vessels of the fleet by more space, variety and individuality. The president of AIDA, Michael Ungerer, assured that the new cruise ship "will usher in a new era of cruising".
Last week, AIDAprima completed a third set of sea trials.
