Hamburg will open its 3rd cruise terminal in Steinwerder to meet the growing demand of cruise industry.

According to the port authority, Steinwerder is a former island that’s been separated from downtown Hamburg by the Elbe river

Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder will handle up to 8,000 cruisers at once.

To ensure smooth flow of passengers and baggage, the terminal will have separate entry and exit areas in case of simultaneous boarding or disembarking of travelers.

Other cruise terminals operate at HafenCity Hamburg and Altona (the westernmost urban borough of Hamburg).

With 590,000 cruisers’ arrivals in 2014, Hamburg is Germany's No1 cruise port.

For the first time in 2015, NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) is sending the new Norwegian Escape ship to Hamburg, where she will receive her final touches from Meyer Werft.
