The ship left Marghera on January 2 and performed her first set of sea trials over 3 days before going into dry dock at the Trieste shipyard of Fincantieri, where hull maintenance was performed. MS Kongingdam underwent second sea trials January 10 through 16, and then made her way back to Marghera.
'Koningsdam delivered a strong performance and is now back at the shipyard for the final phase of work in anticipation of the early April delivery,' said HAL president Orlando Ashford.
Ship's sea trials included performance tests of machinery, engines and systems. Koningsdam’s master-designate, Capt. Emiel de Vries, has not yet taken command of the vessel but participated in testing the the safety systems and maneuvering characteristics together with the yard’s team of architects and builders.
