Princess Cruises announced yesterday, on Chinese New Year, that its first cruise ship designed and built specifically for the China market, Majestic Princess (盛世公主号), will also be the first in the fleet to debut a new livery design featuring the iconic logo of the company. Over the next few years, the elegant livery design will roll out fleetwide.
According to Princess Cruises, the design symbolizes the gracefulness of ocean waves and represents the adventure and excitement of discovering the best the world has to present on a Princess cruise vacation. President of Princess Cruises, Jan Swartz, said:
“For nearly half a century, our Princess logo has represented the adventure of cruise travel around the globe”. “Now our ships sail to more than 360 ports of call worldwide and will be instantly recognized from afar. As the very first cruise ship built for China, we take great pride that Majestic Princess is our first ship to proudly display our new livery design.”
Also yesterday, the new ship reached a significant construction milestone when Majestic Princess “floated out” in its building dock at Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. The ship met ocean for the first time and the occasion was marked by a traditional ceremony.
Majestic Princess is scheduled for delivery in 2017 and will homeport in Shanghai. She will offer many of the same special features as Regal Princess and Royal Princess, including a multistory atrium serving as a social hub; a top-deck glass-bottomed over-the-ocean SeaWalk, extending 28ft beyond the edge of the ship; Princess Live! interactive studio; as well as a special Chef’s Table Lumiere private dining experience surrounding diners in a curtain of light.
The 3,560-guest Majestic Princess will also boast a number of new venues created specifically for the China market, the details of which will be soon revealed.
