Shortly before her birthday on June 7, AIDAcara was given a beauty makeover, and is looking splendid for the big 20th anniversary. The cruise ship was christened on June 7, 1996 in Rostock, by Christiane Herzog.

The first ship of AIDA Cruises fleet triggered a revolution in cruise market. Following the scheduled stay in dry dock January 26-February 6, 2016, at NAVANTIA Shiprepairs in Cadiz, AIDAcara is now back with even more appealing offers.

Apart from routine maintenance work, various refurbishments were carried out. The guest cabins are newly resplendent. 1,800 m² of new carpeting was laid in the public areas. 12,000 m² of the surface of the ship above and below the waterline was repainted.

The new highlights on board include the newly designed Pool Bar (upper deck), and Calypso Bar with outdoor seating area on Deck 9. The Anytime Bar was also refurbished, with its dancefloor redesigned.

The Body & Soul area received new cardio equipment. March 7 will see the premiere of the “cardioscan” on board AIDAcara. The diagnosis tool allows passengers to analyze their cardiac system, metabolism and physical make-up. The cardioscan will also be phased in on the other ships of AIDA fleet.

AIDA Store located on Deck 8 presents the popular brand GAASTRA in a new store concept. The jewelry area was redesigned and is now offering items from the Danish brand, Bering, for the first time. A height-adjustable photo kiosk was added to the existing digital photo stations at the Photoshop, and it can be operated with ease by kids and wheelchair-users.

On February 8, AIDAcara departed from Las Palmas on a 14-day cruise to the Canary and Cape Verde Islands.
