Agrigento is a city located on the southern coast of Sicily, Italy. It is also the capital of the province of Agrigento. Agrigento is renowned as the site of ancient Greek city Akragas (also famous as Acragas in Greek, Kirkent or Jirjent in Arabic, and Agrigentum in Latin), one of the leading Magna Graecia cities during the golden age of Ancient Greece (population estimates 200,000-800,000 before 406BC).
Ancient Akragas covers a vast area, much of which still unexcavated, but is exemplified by renowned Valle dei Templi ("Valley of the Temples", which is a misnomer, as it is actually a ridge). This comprises a sacred area on the south side of the city where 7 monumental Greek temples in Doric style were constructed during 6th-5th centuries BC. Currently excavated and partially restored, these constitute some of the biggest and best-preserved Greek buildings outside of Greece (listed as World Heritage Site).
The Agrigento cruise port map is interactive. It shows the port's exact location, along with the real-time cruise ship traffic (if any) in its vicinity - today, and right now. By zooming-out you can see other cruise ship ports located near Agrigento, Sicily, Italy.
