Basseterre is the capital of Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, West Indies. Basseterre port is located on the south western coast of the island of Saint Kitts, and it is one of the major commercial depots of Leeward Islands. The city is located within Saint George Basseterre parish and the southern part of Saint Peter Basseterre parish.
Basseterre (population around 13,000) is one of the oldest cities in the Eastern Caribbean. It was established by France in 1627, under Sieur Pierre Belain d'Esnambuc.
On January 12, 2017 (Thursday) the Sant Kitts Island was visited by 6 cruise ships with total capacity of over 16,000 passengers. These vessels were the Royal Caribbean's Adventure of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas, Princess Cruises' Regal Princess, AIDA Cruises' AIDAluna, Thomson Cruises' TUI Discovery, and also the top-luxury mega yact SeaDream (docked at Nevis Island).

- Deep Water Harbour (Basseterre's port) is capable of both berthing and hosting of cruise ships or handling of cargo. It is located to the Bay's extreme East.
- Basseterre Bay is also home to bustling ferry operations between Charlestown and Basseterre. Numerous scheduled ferry trips are offered daily. Transportation is served by 6 ferries. Ferry service between Oranjestad (Aruba Island), Statia (Sint Eustatius Island) and Basseterre, as well as to Philipsburg (Saint Maarten) also exists, but with irregular trips.
Port Zante (on the photo below) is located in the centre of the Bay. This pier is only used for docking cruise ships. The Port Zante can accommodate the world's largest cruise ships and also features an yacht marina.
