Fishguard is ferry port and town in Pembrokeshire (Wales). The town (population around 3,500) is divided into Main Town (Fishguard) and Lower Town. The port is located where River Gwaun enters Irish Sea.
In the end of April 2018, STENA LINE announced that its ferry terminal in Fishguard could be closed for up to 3 months due to construction works - replacement of the mechanized bridge (connecting the ferries with the dock). The project was budgeted GBP 5 million, with planned start in February 2019.
By this project, the cruiseferry company will replace the Linkspan (ship-to-shore) connection allowing vehicles to board or disembark the ship at different tide heights. Construction companies started tendering for construction contracts.
