Flensburg is an Elbe River cruise port in Germany. The city is located in the north of the Schleswig-Holstein state, and is the state's 3rd largest - after Lübeck and Kiel. At the end of WWII (May 1945), the city was the Nazi Germany's last government site (between May 1st and 8th, until all German armies surrendered). The Nazi regime was officially dissolved on May 23rd.
Flensburg larger neighbouring towns are Kiel Germany (86 km / (53 ml south) and Odense Denmark (92 km / 57 ml northeast). The city's centre is about 7 km (4 ml) from the Germany-Denmark border. Among Flensburg's attractions are the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt database (Germany's traffic violators), the Flensburger Pilsener (Flens beer), the centre of Danish minority in Germany, the Murwik's Naval Academy (with its Gorch Fock sailing ship used for training).
