San Esteban Island (officially Isla San Esteban) is a small island in the Gulf of California (Baja Mexico) located to the southwest of Tiburon Island. Isla San Esteban is part of Mexico's Sonora state. It covers a total area of approx 40 km² (15 ml2) ranking it Mexico's 15th-largest. Currently uninhabited, the island was once inhabited by the Seri people.
San Esteban Island is home to many odd animal species, such as the endemic San Esteban Chuckwalla (aka piebald chuckwalla, and pinto chuckwalla), the spiny-tailed iguana and the spiny chuckwalla.
