Isla San Marcos is an island located off San Lucas Cove, between Mulege and Santa Rosalia, on the coast of Sea of Cortez. The island covers a total area of approx 28,748 km2 (11,100 ml2) and has a population of around 430 people (2005 census).

Isla San Marcos features great diving and a beautiful cove for snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking and swimming, as well as a broad arroyo that leads into the interior, with excellent opportunities for bird watching and intriguing desert plants. Since 1926, they have been mining gypsum on the isle. The village on Isla San Marcos is well established and boasts its own school and a small church made out of baked blocks gypsum powder (1950).
