Kostolac is a Danube River cruise port and town in Serbia. It has population around 10,000 and is also the center of Stig and home of thermal power plants and coal mines.

A major Roman city (called Viminacium) in Moesia province was located approx 20 km (12 ml) east of Kostolac, Viminacium was destroyed by the Huns in 440 AD, then rebuilt and again destroyed by the Avars in 584 AD.

Serbia's largest island (Ostrovo) is located nearby. The island (located east of Belgrade) covered an area of 60 km2 (23 ml2) and had length 20 km (12 ml) and width 3 km (2 ml). Today it is a heavily forested peninsula connected to Danube's southern bank.
