Montreux is a town located on Lake Geneva (Alps Mountains, Switzerland). It covers a total area of approx 33 km2 (13 ml2) and has population around 25,000 (municipality 90,000).
- Town's heritage sites and most popular tourist attractions include: Chatelard Castle, Cretes Castle, Swiss National Audiovisual Museum, Caux Palace Hotel, Hotel Montreux Palace.
- In Montreux are hosted several annual festivals: Septembre musical de Montreux (since 1946), Freddie Mercury's Montreux Memorial Day (since 2003, held during September's first weekend), Montreux Jazz Festival (held in July since 1967), Golden Award of Montreux (held in April since 1989).
- The town has one of the prettiest walks along Lake Geneva. The main square (Place du Marche) features a statue of Freddie Mercury (1946-1991, British singer and songwriter, lead vocalist of The Queen).
