Moselle Valley is a region situated in eastern Luxembourg, north-eastern France and south-western Germany, centred on the valley formed by Moselle River. The Moselle runs along the borders and through the 3 countries, and drains a 4th, Belgium.
Moselle Valley has been promoted as quality white wine-producing region since the 19th century. "Moselle wine" is produced in 3 countries; it is the heart of Luxembourg wine industry, and is also of the Mosel region in Germany, and there are some French vineyards, as well. The Moselle developed strong tourism industry around the reputation as rural idyll. Tourism sector is most prominent in the German and Luxembourgian parts of Moselle.
The part of the valley in Luxembourg roughly corresponds with the eastern and central parts of the cantons of Remich and Grevenmacher. Almost all lowest-lying Luxembourg communes lie along the Moselle River. There are no large cities in Luxembourg's part of Moselle Valley, but the major settlements are Grevenmacher, Remich, Wasserbillig and Mondorf-les-Bains, all of which feature populations in excess of 2,000 inhabitants.
