Pleasant Island is the largest of the Inian Islands (wilderness reserve) located in the Icy Strait (southeastern Alaska) between Chichagof Island and mainland Southeast Alaska (aka Alaska Panhandle). It is just a few miles from Gustavus AK and Glacier Bay National Park.
- The isle has a total land area of 49192 km2 (18993 ml2) and no population (uninhabited). The island is fairly flat, with a mixture of old forest and muskeg. It features four fresh-water lakes (can be hiked from the shoreline), many beaches and several dedicated camping areas. Many tourists kayak to and from the Inian Islands Wilderness park and stop at Pleasant Island for lunch or a campover.
- The Inian Islands Wilderness consists of 2 large-sized islands (Lemesurier and PLeasant) plus a few smaller ones adjacent to them. The park is accessible by floatplane, small boat (ship) or sea kayak. lnian Islands are also a great harbor for commercial fishing ships operating in the region.
- Lemesurier Island is located west of Pleasant Island. Its highest elevation point is 2180 ft (660 m) and its top is not forested. The isle also features a small lake (in the south part, can be hiked from the shoreline), several beaches (on the southern and northern coasts) and coves (camping sites). In the south there are two small private parcels.
- Inian Islands are among the Southeast Alaska's best places to watch marine mammals - humpback whales, orcas, seals, sea otters, Steller sea lions, porpoises (aka mereswines). The fauna also features sea and land birds (marbled murrelets, seagulls, terns, bald eagles, rock ptarmigans, grouses) and land animals (brown bears, black-tailed deer, martens, American minks, land otters, red and grey squirrels.
