Roseau ("Wozo") is the largest city and capital of Dominica, with a population of around 16,600 inhabitants. It is a small urban settlement in Saint George parish, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, Roseau River and Morne Bruce. Established on the site of ancient Kalinago Indian village of Sairi, Roseau is the oldest and major urban settlement on Dominica island.
Roseau is situated on the west coast of Dominica and features a combination of contemporary and colonial French architecture. It is also country's major port for foreign trade, as some exports include bay oil, vegetables, bananas, oranges, grapefruit and cocoa. Another large part of local economy is the service sector.
Roseau ferry terminal offers direct links to neighbouring Guadeloupe (located to the north), Saint Lucia and Martinique to the south.
