  Port Map

Sherrard Island belongs to the Australia's Queensland state. The isle is located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, northwest of Cape Melville and northeast of Coen. The island has a total area of 0,02 km2 (0,01 ml2) and is uninhabited.

World's largest coral reef system, Great Barrier Reef is among the best places to scuba diving and marine life exploration. It is currently world's largest single structure made up of living organisms. The reef is popular among divers for its biodiversity and revered as sacred place by Australia's Aboriginal peoples. Ribbon Reef, running some 160 km (100 ml) close to Sherrard Island, is famous for its clear visibility and diversity of marine life at its bommies (coral columns discovered in sheltered lagoons). Don your gear for unforgettable experience swimming alongside rays, turtles, tropical fish and  sharks through coral gardens.

Sherrard Island Anchorage snorkeling requires only decent physical fitness, ability to swim and curiosity about life under the sea. The place provides an opportunity to see 350 different corals, some 2,500 species of sponges and as many as 1,500 species of fish. There is also a variety of marine plants here.

Fishing is a popular pastime in the area and is allowed, though with a few restrictions. So take only what you need, don't use non-native fish for bait, and don't fish where fish feeding takes place.
