Ubatuba is a port city and municipality in Sao Paulo state (Brazil), located on Ilha Anchieta (Island), with population around 90,000. The island (Ilha Anchieta State Park) is designated as nature preserve since 1977.

Ubatuba is part of Vale do Paraíba e Litoral Norte (metro region). The city frequently receives heavy rains, hence its nickname Uba Chuva ("chuva" - Portuguese for "rain"). To the north, much of Anchieta Island is mountainous and forested. Most (over 80%) of the city is covered by Serra do Mar State Park, with few roads running through the mountains.

The city is a major domestic tourism travel destination featuring over 100 beaches, the most popular of which are Enseada, Grande, Itamambuca, Lazaro, Maranduba, Pereque, Saco da Ribeira, Vermelha. Ubatuba is officially considered state's "surf capital" due to more than 10 internationally renowned surf contests (including 2 world qualifying and 2 Super Surf Pro series) held off its beaches every year. Other surfing competitions are supported by well-established brands like Billabong International (Australia), Quiksilver (American-Australian), Dunkelvolk (Peru).

In recent years, the city also becomes more and more popular for birdwatching, having around 600 bird species.
