Garove Island is the largest of Vitu Islands PNG (aka Witu Islands) in the Bismarck Sea, north of New Britain Island. Vitu Islands have a total area of 96 km2 (37 ml2).
- Garove (aka Big Witu) and Unea are the largest. The remainig islands (named Mundua) are located approx 11 km (7 ml) northwest of Garove.
- The isles are volcanic in origin, reef-ringed and highly fertile.
- Vitu Islands were the PNG's chief copra center. Currently, cocoa is the main crop harvested on the islands.
- Witu Islands are mainly accessed from Rabaul (New Britain Island). Among the main tourist attractions and activities are - diving/snorkelling, glass-bottom boat tours, sunbathing/swimming, village visits.
