Review of AmaMagna
AmaMagna cruise ship is the largest riverboat in AmaWaterways fleet. The ship has LOA length of 135 m (443 ft) and width of 22 m (72 ft). By length, this is Europe's absolute largest river cruise ship - twice the width of a traditional European riverboat, and surpassing even the Soviet-era Russian pleasure ships on Volga River. Still, Europe's widest riverboat remains Crystal Cruises' double-hull design vessel Crystal Mozart, which has width of 23 m (75 ft) and LOA length of 120 m (394 ft).
The unique builder of AmaMagna riverboat is Vahali Shipyards in Sremska Mitrovica (Serbia). The ship was scheduled for launch in 2019. The shipbuilding yard is on River Sava (tributary of Danube). In 2019, AmaWaterways has scheduled a second ship launch - AmaMora.
The newbuild accommodates up to 194 cruise passengers in 98 standard staterooms, 4 suites and 1 Ama Owner’s luxury suite. All standard cabins are over 28 m2 (300 ft2), claimed to become “some of the largest in river cruising”.
As to the APT-AmaWaterwas itineraries of AmaMagna, European river cruise ship of this size can be only operated on Danube.
AmaMagna, which is described as “a game-changer”, is river cruising industry's first vessel with open-water marina (sports platform). The aft-located facility features canoes, zodiacs (inflatable boats used for landings) and recreational equipment. The emphasis is put on "lots of play room" in spots like the gym (large enough for small-group classes) and the large wellness complex (spa, fitness room, separate room for group classes).
Multiple dining venues include a stylish glass-enclosed al fresco restaurant (with floor-ceiling windows), enhanced live entertainment in the evenings and themed onboard activities. This beautiful riverboat has fore-located bar lounge, library and one elevator. The passenger lift connects all decks, including the sun deck, which is an unique and unusual feature on riverboats.
On the Sun Deck are the ship's large swimming pool (heated), large jacuzzi whirlpool, Sky Bar, walking track, deck games area, shaded area (covered-seating with retractable awnings).
As technology, the ship debuts a quieter and more fuel-efficient diesel engine. More details on onboard amenities and other vessel specifications are expected soon.
