Review of Enchantment Of The Seas
Launched in 1997, Enchantment of the Seas is the 4th Vision-class Royal Caribbean ship, together with Vision, Legend, Grandeur, Rhapsody and Splendour. The ship cost US $300 million to build and was last refurbished in 2013, with next scheduled refurbishment in 2017.
History - construction & ownership
Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. RCI is a cruise line brand established in Norway and currently based in Miami, Florida. As of September 2015, the line controls a 17% share of the world cruise market, with 23 cruise ships in service and other three on order. All vessels under the Royal Caribbean brand have had their names ending with "of the Seas" since 1991. Sister brands owned by Royal Caribbean Ltd. are Azamara Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, CDF Croisières de France and Pullmantur Cruises.
The 82,910-ton, 1,950-passenger Enchantment of the Seas was sliced, diced and sewn back diring 2005 refurbishment, along with the addition of a 73-ft long midsection. This is the reason why parts of the ship sparkle like new, while others show a bit of wear. Although the external appearance of the Enchantment of the Seas is slightly faded, the midsection (both inside and outside) is still looking comparatively new and offers a larger pool deck, funky suspension bridges, Boleros Latin lounge, Ben & Jerry's, Champagne bar and ritzy Centrum atrium, full with glass-enclosed elevators.
Cruise itinerary program
Enchantment of the Seas itinerary program is based on year-round 3- and 4-day short Bahamas cruises from Port Canaveral, Florida.
Most Enchantment of the Seas staterooms are 135-260-sq.foot insides (463). There are a total of 1142 staterooms in 23 categories. 19 are the wheelchair accessible rooms. The largest aboard Enchantment of the Seas are the Royal Suites (1185 ft2).
Dining options - Food & Drinks
For a quick bite choose Enchantment's Windjammer Marketplace. It's set up in various stations, so you can grab everything from cheeses and pizza to carved meats and dessert. Beginning at 3 p.m., an afternoon tea is offered there each day. During busy times, it's difficult to find tables. For more formal dining, better check out the 2-level My Fair Lady dining room. It's open daily from 7 to 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and from noon to 1:30 p.m. for lunch (when it's converted into a Brasserie 30 restaurant, which serves excellent dishes like shells with pesto sauce). Set-seating dining times are 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Passengers can opt for anytime dining, which allows to avoid set tablemates and eat between 6 and 9:30 p.m. The alternative dining venue onboard Enchantment of the Seas is Chops Grille, which carries a fee of $25 per person.
