Review of MS River Concerto
MS River Concerto is a 140-passenger river ship with four decks and 70 cabins (150 square feet or larger). All of the cabins are outside, with 2 twin beds, safe, private bath with shower, hair dryer, individual air-conditioned controls, direct-dial telephone and color TV, including CNN and movies.
This charming, 361-feet river boat is one of the largest in Grand Circle Cruise Line’s deluxe fleet. It features a lounge with its own bar, forward panoramic salon with floor-to-ceiling windows and reception hall with dining room (single open seating) and library. Complimentary wireless Internet access is provided in the reception area, library, bar, and lounge. The Sun Deck offers a fitness area with spa (with hot tub and massage room). There is an elevator for cruisers who have problems with steps. Passengers onboard River Concerto are 45+ Europeans and Americans.
In May 2011, the 136 passengers onboard the 110-meter passenger ship River Concerto were awaken to a crash in the night. The boat had been struck by a tanker, Margaux, which caused considerable damage above waterline. River Concerto evacuated the travelers at Emmerich, Germany including 5 passengers and 2 crew members injured in the collision. Margaux suffered minor damage from the collision, but fortunately there was no leak of the 950t of diesel fuel aboard. River Concerto had left out of Basel and was heading for Rotterdam before the collision.
