American Cruise Lines announced the successful launching (three weeks earlier than scheduled) of America, its newest paddlewheeler.

America is being constructed for Mississippi River sailings at Chesapeake Shipbuilding, Salisbury (Maryland).

The launching of the new river boat took place on Friday, August 7. Right after it, tugboats nudged the new vessel into the East Outfitting Basin of Chesapeake Shipbuilding, where upper decks and outfitting are to be completed.

The launching came a few weeks after joining of two hull sections. With the installation of upper decks, America will come together quickly. Upon completion she will be the 3rd new river boat built by American Cruise Lines for Mississippi River.

Construction of Queen of the Mississippi is underway as well. The delivery of the brand new paddlewheeler is scheduled for 2017.
