(Crystal Endeavor) On January 19, 2022, after the parent company GHK-Genting Hong Kong (owner of Crystal Cruises/shipowner) filed for bankruptcy, Crystal Cruises announced that temporarily ceases operations, canceling its ocean fleet's remaining February thru April's end schedules. Crystal's riverboats were canceled thru May's end.

The cancellations affected the ships Crystal Symphony (31x voyages/Caribbean and Mediterranean) and Crystal Serenity (14x voyages part of the 116-day World Cruise) as well as Crystal Endeavor (6x voyages/including the Antarctic program from Ushuaia Argentina).

Crystal Symphony's current voyage (Miami roundtrip, 14-day "Grand Journey Lesser Antilles and the Virgin Isles") was ended as scheduled (on Jan 22nd in PortMiami).

Crystal Serenity's World Cruise (Jan 17 - May 13, Miami roundtrip) was ended in Oranjestad Aruba (on Jan 30).

Crystal Endeavor's Antarctic program was ended on February 4th (in Ushuaia).

On February 4th, the ships Symphony and Serenity were arrested in Freeport (Bahamas). According to anonymous crew reports, the boats anchored off Freeport for bunkering - Symphony to load food, Serenity - for fuel. On the same day, in Ushuaia was arrested Crystal Endeavor.

Note: On January 10, 2022, the two GHK-owned German shipbuilding companies MV Werften and Lloyd Werft (Bremerhaven) filed for insolvency/bankruptcy protection. Unofficially was reported that the shipbuilder has liquidity gap ~EUR 148 million (~USD 168M / ~GBP 123M).

January 2021Other Incidents

(Crystal Endeavor) In December 2020 were canceled all scheduled for 2021 (January 6 through/including May 1) departures, or a total of 8 itineraries in Australia-New Zealand, and also repositioning cruises, all priced from USD 36950 pp.

The list included:

• 22-day from Hobart to Lyttelton-Christchurch (Jan 6)
• 22-day from Lyttelton-Christchurch to Hobart (Jan 28)
• 17-day from Hobart to Lyttelton-Christchurch (Feb 19)
• 15-day from Lyttelton-Christchurch to Melbourne (March 8)
• 10-day from Melbourne to Fremantle (March 24)
• 12-day relocation from Fremantle to Singapore (April 3)
• 15-day from Singapore to Hong Kong China (April 16)
• 14-day from Hong Kong to Tokyo Japan (May 1)

Crystal Endeavor's Maiden Voyage was rescheduled for May 15, 2021 (13-day from Tokyo to Kobe) and priced from USD 16540 pp.

In late-January 2021 were canceled all Crystal Endeavor cruises in March through August 2021. These cancellations included the ship's Alaska 2021 mini-season (4x departures from Seward and Vancouver BC) and Japan 2021 program.

All affected/canceled bookings were provided with full monetary refund or 125% refund in FCC (future cruise credit) with rebooking on any Crystal Cruises ship and itinerary through 2023.

09 April 2020Structural and Technical Issues

(Crystal Endeavor) On April 9, 2020, Crystal Yacht Cruises announced that the new ship's delivery will be delayed due to the temporary shutdown of the shipbuilding yard Lloyd Werft in Germany (MV Werften Stralsund). The closure was due to the global Coronavirus pandemic and halted the shipyard's operations.

As result, all planned for Crystal Endeavor cruises in 2020 (August 10 through October 31) were canceled. The Inaugural Cruise (Aug 10-26, 16-day itinerary "Russian Far East Maiden Expedition Cruise", roundtrip from Yokohama Japan) was rescheduled for November 14 (14-day itinerary "Tasmania and Fjords of New Zealand", Nov 14-28, from Sydney NSW to Lyttelton-Christchurch NZ).

Prices started from ~USD 14450 pp. The canceled itineraries also included:

• Aug 28- 16-day "Japans Cultural and Coastal Discovery Cruise" (roundtrip Yokohama)
• Sept 13 - 15-day from Yokohama to Keelung Taiwan
• Sept 29 - 16-day from Keelung to Benoa (Bali Indonesia)
• Oct 15 - 16-day from Benoa to Cairns (Queensland Australia)
• Oct 31 - 13-day from Cairns to Sydney (NSW Australia)

In early-June 2020, Crystal Yacht Cruises canceled the remainder of Crystal Endeavor's 2020 program. The decision was based on international travel restrictions, including Australia's and New Zealand's bans for cruise ships.

The last planned for 2020 and canceled itineraries included:

• (Nov 28) 12-day from Lyttelton-Christchurch to Auckland NZ (USD 12700)
• (Dec 10) 12-day from Auckland to Lyttelton-Christchurch (USD 12200)
• (Dec 22) 14-day from Lyttelton-Christchurch to Hobart Tasmania (USD 18750)

All affected/canceled bookings were provided with full monetary refund or 125% refund in FCC (future cruise credit) with rebooking on any Crystal Cruises ship and itinerary through 2023.
