Agropoli is port city in Salerno province, Campania region (Italy). it is located at the beginning of Cilento coast on Tyrrhenian Sea. Agropoli is an important access port to nearby ancient site of Paestum. Established by the Greeks in 600 BC, the well preserved site was rediscovered in 1752. Today it features the impressive Amphitheatre, Athenian, Basilica and the Temple of Poseidon.

Founded by the Byzantines in the 6th century, Agropoli boasts a medieval old town that has remained intact, together with surrounding defensive walls, and 7th-century entrance gate. Angevin-Aragonese castle, built on 6th-century Byzantine foundations, stands on top of promontory. There is another promontory to the west of the modern tourist harbour, on which the 16th-century coastal tower of San Francesco stands next to the remains of a convent of the same name.

Other main sights in Agripoli include tombs predating the Byzantine period and 16th-century Churches of Holy Mary of Constantinople, San Marco, and San Francesco. Trentova Bay beaches contribute to make the city an important seaside resort. The Municipal Antiquarian presents a collection of archaeological finds.
