Chateauneuf-du-Rhone is a Rhone River cruise port and a small town in France's Drome Department (Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes region) with a population of around 3,000. The town is located approx 60 km (37 mi) south of Valence (Drome's largest city by population) and approx 9 km (6 mi) south of Montelimar.

The town is accessible via road 144 from Donzere (south) or Montelimar (north). One of the few bridges over Rhone River connects the downtown to the village Viviers en Ardeche. The nearest highway is A7 (aka Autoroute du Soleil) that links Lyon and Marseille (on the French Riviera). The PLM Line (railway Paris-Lyon to Marseille-Saint-Charles) crosses Chateauneuf-du-Rhone. However, the closest train station is Gare de Donzere (between Montelimar and Pierrelatte) and serves LGV Mediterranee (250-km long high-speed rail line for TGV trains).

The local economy is based on Henri Poincare (1957-opened hydroelectric power station), agriculture and tourism (2 hotels, 5 restaurants, a nature park with a mini-train).

As cruise port, Chateauneuf-du-Rhone is included in the regular schedule of one of Europe's best-known river cruise travel companies - Saga. The UK-based luxury travel brand operates riverboats under charter from the shipowner Scylla AG.

For seasons 2019 and 2020, Chateauneuf-du-Rhone was included in itineraries operated by MS Amadeus Provence.

The next table shows the boat's 7-day itinerary from homeport Lyon.
