Hyde Park NY (New York)

Hyde Park NY is a Hudson River cruise port and town in New York state's Dutchess County, with population around 22,000. The town is located north of Poughkeepsie (county seat), approx midway between NYC and Albany NY.

The settlement was officially established (as Stoutenburgh) in 1742 and received its current name in 1810. Hudson River forms town's western border (also border for Ulster County). Poughkeepsie borders to the south, Rhinebeck to the north, Clinton and Pleasant Valley are to the east.

Hyde Park is best-known for being the hometown of USA's 32nd President Franklin Delano Roosevelt (1882-1945, in office between 1933-1945). Roosevelt's house (Springwood Estate) is listed as National Historic Site on USA's Register of Historic Places and maintained by NPS (National Park Service). In the town are also Culinary Institute of America's main campus (4-year college) and Roosevelt's Presidential Library and Museum (USA's first presidential library, also part of Springwood).
