Isla San Jose is an island in the Gulf of California, located off mainoand Mexico (Baja California Peninsula's eastern coast). The isle is approx 60 km (37 ml) north of La Paz City, and belongs to Mexico's Baja California Sur state.. The island covers a total area of approx 183 km2 (71 ml2) ranking it Mexico's 6th-largest.
In English, it is often referred to as "San Jose Island", although there are other isles bearing this name. Of particular interest on Isla San Jose is its forest of giant cardon cacti (world's tallest cactus), as well as more than 80 types of other cacti. The island features a splendid white sandy beach and mangrove lined lagoon.
