Isla San Marcos is an island located in Sea of Cortez, off San Lucas Cove (Baja California Sur) and between Mulege and Santa Rosalia. The island covers a total area of approx 29 km2 (11 ml2) and has population around 500.
Isla San Marcos is a great travel destination for scuba diving, snorkeling, sea kayaking and swimming. The island has a broad dry creek that leads into the interior with desert plants and excellent opportunities for bird watching. In 1926, here were started gypsum mining operations. The village on Isla San Marcos is well established and has its own school and a small church.
