Port Angeles is a port city in Washington USA, with population around 20,000 and covering an area of approx 38 km2 (15 mi2).
Port Angeles has a long and narrow moraine (accumulation of unconsolidated glacial debris) projecting northeasterly into Strait of Juan de Fuca. It creates a natural deepwater harbor well-protected from storms and swells from the Pacific Ocean. The harbour is deep enough for anchorage of big-sized ships, including cruise liners and oil tankers. Vancouver Island's south shore and Victoria BC are visible to the north across the Strait.
The city is served by William Fairchild International Airport. Regularly scheduled ferry service is offered across Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria (Canada). As shore excursions, from Port Angeles are offered tours to Hurricane Ridge. These bus travel excursions feature scenic views of Juan de Fuca Strait and the mountainous scenery of Olympic National Forest.
